New featureHāpara Highlights Chat
Schools and districts can now sign up to be early adopters of Chat. This new feature allows teachers to send students an instant message during class and allows students to respond. Teachers can use this feature to build positive classroom relationships, offer instant digital citizenship feedback and respond to questions. Teachers can turn this option on or off during class time.

New featureRecurring “Guide browsing” sessions
When creating a “Guide browsing” Focus Session or Filter Session, teachers can now select “Repeat this session.” They will select the days of the week and end date for the recurring session. This new feature makes it easier to focus students on their learning and lightens teachers’ workloads.

TechnicalHighlights extension v5.0.86
A new version of the Hāpara Highlights extension was released. This version features enhancements for our highly anticipated new Chat feature. The Chat feature will allow teachers and students to communicate with each other to build positive classroom relationships and deepen learning.

New featureClass View “Guide browsing” window updates
When teachers click the “Guide browsing” button in Class View, they will see an updated window. This allows teachers to more quickly start a Focus or Filter Session, schedule one or create a template. The templates list will also include icons to help them easily differentiate between Focus and Filter Sessions.

EnhancementThe “Message” feature is now “Announce”
In Hāpara Highlights, the “Message” feature has been updated to “Announce.” When teachers click on the button, they will be able to send an announcement to an individual student, a group of students or the entire class.

In Hāpara Highlights, teachers can now click on the X next to a student’s tab and block it for the individual student. They can select a duration of time for blocking the tab. This makes it easier to keep learners focused and stop them from continuously visiting distracting websites.

Enhancement“Guide browsing” updates
When teachers use the Hāpara Highlights “Guide browsing” feature to create a Filter Session, they can now add up to 50 URLs (the previous number was 10). We made this update due to feedback from educators who wanted the ability to add more links. This prevents students from visiting distracting or harmful websites or pages.
Teachers can now also remove a URL or link from an active “Guide browsing” session, allowing for greater flexibility during instruction and learning.

The new and improved Hāpara Admin Console is now available for all customers. The new design has a more intuitive interface and modern navigation. New feature“Sharing” is now “Drive” in Teacher Dashboard
The Sharing tab in Hāpara Teacher Dashboard has been updated to the “Drive” button. This aligns with what teachers see in Highlights to better integrate our products together. Teacher Dashboard and Highlights are now more visually similar, and loading time has been reduced.
Teachers who use more than two subject folders will also see a streamlined drop-down menu featuring multiple folders.

New featureGoogle Drive integration with Highlights
While teachers have been able to view students’ Google Drives via Hāpara Teacher Dashboard, they can now access their Drives directly from Highlights. At the top of their Highlights page, teachers can click the Drive button to search for and view files in students’ Google Drives. This allows teachers to stay in the same tab to view both student tabs and Drives.
