Cordance and Hāpara

Chicago, Illinois, Jan. 25, 2023. For immediate release.

Hāpara announced today that it has been acquired by Cordance, a company dedicated to growing software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies to help them reach their full potential. This new partnership will first and foremost help Hāpara to reach more educators and learners around the world and improve our products. Hāpara will continue to build and develop tools that support educators and learners first.

Our customers will not see any change in or interruption of their day-to-day use of the Hāpara Instructional Suite of products. It will continue to provide learner-centered tools and world-class professional development. Cordance will invest resources, capital and expertise into helping Hāpara create and develop its products to continue the mission of providing high-quality digital learning environments to all students.

“Being part of the Cordance family of companies will ensure we deliver on our mission and make an even greater impact on K-12 education. We are enthused about partnering with Cordance and believe that they are a perfect match for our team, customer schools/districts, and, most especially our educators and learners,” says Wayne Poncia, CEO of Hāpara and 2022 Global Edtech Leader of the Year.

“We’re excited to work with Hāpara to accelerate its next phases of development,” says Sharon Love, CEO at Cordance. “The company has proven its ability to create highly effective learning environments. It is at an ideal point to partner with them to expand their impact on the classroom experience even further.”

Hāpara got its start in Auckland, New Zealand in 2011 when a group of educators in the Manaiakalani cluster of schools was looking for a way to make sense of and manage Google for teachers and learners. Soundly based on John Hattie’s research, Hāpara was born from a desire to streamline classroom routines and make learning visible to both educators and learners. Today Hāpara delivers its unique software services in more than 40 countries with a significant market share in the US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
